ABOUT US

The New York City International Book Fair (FILNYC) it’s an initiative of the CUNY Mexican Studies Institute, which celebrates and raises visibility of Spanish literature in the United States, in a converging space that brings together book professionals, writers, editors and publishers, librarians and their audiences.

Founded in 2019 under the leadership of its director, Dr. José Higuera López, the FILNYC has four themes: literature, biodiversity, humanism and academia, which together shapes one of the most interesting New York cultural events in Spanish, which for over four editions has brought together over 260 writers, who come from 13 Latin American countries, in addition to Spain.

The FILNYC is also possible thanks to the support of institutions like New York University (NYU), Columbia University, the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Center (CLACS), City College Downtown, the New York Public Library, NYU Creative Writing in Spanish (CWS), King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center (KJCC), the New York Cervantes Institute, the North American Academy of Spanish Language (ANLE), Sundial House and Hablemos, escritoras.

The event and its activities are free of cost.

The 7th Edition of The New York City International Book Fair (FILNYC) will take place from 22 to 26 of October, 2025.
