The New York City International Book Fair (FILNYC) Celebrates It’s 6th Edition This 2024

The sixth edition of the New York City International Book Fair has a new home.

The sixth edition of the New York City International Book Fair (FILNYC) will have the theme ofNew York, a meeting place for Spanish and other languages. The FILNYC will take place from the 8 to 12 of October in the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC).

This 2024 edition at BMCC is of high significance for the FILNYC because the fair was an initiative by the CUNY Mexican Studies Institute, and this new location is also part of the same higher education network of the City College of New York, CUNY.

This FILNYC new location will allow authors, professionals of the publishing industry, students, readers and general audiences to come together in a larger space and with more allocated time. Unlike previous editions and due to its audience growth, the fair will be extended with more dates for simultaneous events, such as: literary activities, book presentations, workshops (for various ages and different levels), the first professional opportunities (a space to build a network between professionals of the Spanish book world on both sides of the Atlantic) and broader range of book sales and exhibitions.

With this collaboration the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) and the New York City International Book Fair (FILNYC) will have the objective to promote literacy to the city’s Spanish-speaking communities offering greater cultural and artistic expression. Both institutions acknowledge the importance of creating these types of events for the educational community.

The sixth edition of the FILNYC opens on October 8 at the Pulitzer Hall, Columbia University. And it will have the collaborations of Columbia’s Casa Hispánica, Sundial House and Humanities Department. Also from NYU: CLACS y MFA.
