Dejanira Álvarez

Dejanira Álvarez, (Guadalajara, México), holds the position of Assistant Director of Academic and Student Services and General Director of the New York City International Book Fair (FILNYC) at the CUNY Mexican Studies Institute. In 2020, she founded the Las Mimosas book club, which aims to promote and disseminate literary works written by women.
Among her previous responsibilities, her role as general coordinator of the New York City International Book Fair Anthology stands out, a project that focuses on giving visibility to emerging authors that write in Spanish, both inside and outside of the United States.
Throughout her career, she has led various projects, directing marketing and communications strategies for sporting and cultural events in both Mexico and the United States. These include the Lorena Ochoa Invitational (2011-2017) and the Lorena Ochoa Charity Classic (2021) golf tournaments, the first Superenduro World Championship in Mexico, the International Champions Cup in the United States, Europe, and Asia, the Red Bull Show Run in 2022, and the first stage of the UTMB World Series in Puerto Vallarta in 2022. She is also the co-founder of FILMINIST, the first film festival dedicated to women in the industry in Mexico.
